Windows Desktop Systems Engineer

Primary Job Duties:
  • Maintains and tests all various aspects of Windows 10 Desktop operating systems, and business applications running on Windows 10 (20%)
  • Installs and configures enterprise systems which integrate with Windows 10 to ensure high availability, integrity, and stable performance for production business applications, the development thereof, and test environments (20%)
  • Optimize performance and functionality of Windows 10 Desktop systems and applications (20%)
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, isolate, and resolve problems reported by IT support staff and end-users (20%)
  • Test, document, communicate, and release large-scale changes to the Windows 10 Desktop Infrastructure (20%)

AEEC is currently seeking a Windows Desktop Systems Engineer to support our prime Federal contract in Alexandria, VA.

Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Designs, deploys, tests, and maintains systems infrastructure, operating systems, and business applications
  • Installs and configures systems to ensure high availability, integrity, and stable performance for production, development, and test environments
  • Optimize performance and functionality of Windows 10 Desktop systems and applications
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, isolate, and resolve problems reported by IT support staff and end-users
  • Test, document, communicate, and release large-scale changes to the enterprise
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report system performance and security posture
  • Technical point of contact responsible for the planning, testing, deployment, and monitoring of information systems
  • Collaborates with internal and client leadership to gather, define, and disseminate technical specifications and test plans to customers, pilot users, and stakeholders
  • Implements upgrade strategies for the enterprise

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years of related technical experience
  • SME in Microsoft SCCM application suite (including but not limited to MS Office, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Intune, ATP, DLP, Cloud App Security, O365 Security and Compliance)
  • Expertise in Microsoft Windows 10 engineering, optimization, and automation
  • Experience capturing requirements, developing plans in alignment to technical and functional requirements, and managing the testing, integration, and release of IT services to the enterprise
  • Experience managing physical and virtual servers, data backup/recovery, and vulnerability management
  • Experience with Microsoft Server 2012 R2/2016 engineering, optimization, and automation to include but not limited to Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying configuration baselines based on DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark
  • Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, VBS, batch)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop plans that consider importance, urgency, risks, and the best interest of the customer
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems by identifying root cause, developing short- and long-term solutions, and making recommendations and executing the resolution
  • VMware experience
