AEEC Holds Open House for Innovation Lab

Today, AEEC held an Open House to unveil our brand new Innovation Lab at our facility in Alexandria.  AEEC’s Technology Innovation Lab is designed to showcase innovation and AEEC’s capabilities on a wide variety of leading-edge technologies and products. The lab will serve as an incubator for innovative technologies in the areas of Big Data, cloud computing, mobile technology, data analytics, DevOps, open data, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and more.

AEEC CEO Raj Patil began the ceremony by welcoming everyone and providing a brief overview of how the idea for the lab was born.  He expressed the hope that the lab would serve as a bridge between customer needs and practical solutions.

AEEC Chief Technology Officer Darwin Layog then described the lab’s features and capabilities in more detail.

The keynote speaker was the Honorable William Euille, Mayor of Alexandria.  Mayor Euille expressed his pleasure at AEEC’s decision to locate its innovative facility in Alexandria.  He noted that the lab was emblematic of Alexandria’s growing reputation as a center for business and innovation.

Following the mayor’s remarks, the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, with Mayor Euille performing the honors.

After the opening ceremony, AEEC personnel held a series of demonstrations of the lab’s capabilities and technologies.  One demonstration used projects from AEEC’s Environmental and Engineering Division to showcase the latest developments in mobile technology.  Another demonstration focused on cloud computing, while the third spotlighted the lab’s capacity for Big Data and Open Data solutions.

After the demonstrations were complete, closing remarks were provided by US Representative Don Beyer of Virginia’s 8th District, which includes Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, and parts of Fairfax County.  Representative Beyer welcomed AEEC to the neighborhood, and spoke about the crucial role of innovation and businesses of all sizes in spurring economic growth.

We are pleased to announce that AEEC’s Innovation Lab is officially open for business, and we are thankful for all of AEEC’s employees and partners who have worked hard to make the lab a reality and the Open House a success.
